amazing weekends with friends always make up for the terrible weekdays of work :)

MONTMARTRE!

Sacre Coeur :) Right behind my new apartment (and the family’s too, I live in still!)

Okay, so I think I need some sort of an update. I told my family that I’m leaving, and my last day is on Friday (5 days from now! SO EXCITED TO GO!) And things have been uncomfortable and rude since then. I was incredibly sick yesterday. I had a fever and a terrible cold, but they forced me to take the kids to the pool. After the pool, they dropped me off and said they would come back that afternoon (they didn’t. They showed up around 8 and didn’t even check to see if I was here/okay.) I had to walk all the way to the supermarket and pharamacie to get tissues and medicine, but I couldn’t figure out what I needed, and I ended up with some homeopathic medicine. I can’t believe the family didn’t even offer me some medicine! I was so upset and mad and I felt sooo sick. It was really a terrible day. I went out shopping for a bit and felt better, but I really should’ve stayed in. The shopping was tons of fun though :)

On Friday I dropped off my bag at the new house, and started to unpack! The parents showed me some things around the house, and they even showed me things they got for my room from Ikea! I love ikea! I felt really welcome, and frankly, any situation is going to be better than this family, so I am really confident that this will work out. I will have my own bathroom, and my schedule lets me hang out with friends more often than I can now! Plus I can have a cell and a navigo, which are things that I DEFINITELY need in Paris! That night I went out with friends. We played drinking games next to a car dealership near Oberkampf and then moved to an Irish pub in Bastille. It was a lot of fun :) I missed my last metro and couldn’t figure out the night bus so I slept at Sophia’s for an hour or so! Her bed is sooo much comfier than mine! And she has a pretty cool tiny apartment :)

Yesterday, I was sick but I also went to Chatelet and did some shopping. I got two sweaters and some leggings. It was a great distraction from my crappy family! I was originally supposed to go to a techno parade, but I really didn’t feel up to it.

Today was one of my favorite days in Paris. We saw Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, and all of the sex shops in between! We had lunch on the grassy hill in front of Sacre Coeur, bought some prints from a couple artsy stores, and saw a few places from Amelie! The fruit stand/shop and Cafe des 2 moulins! We also visited an erotic museum, which was interesting to say the least. We walked so far and saw so much, I’m pretty proud of us! It was a perfect day, and I hope to repeat it!

Tomorrow, work starts again and I’m definitely not up to it. I think I’ll make another post in the morning, until then, a bientot :)

(Au pairs hanging out in Bastille!!)
